Alpine Hit-A-Thon

A player-driven fundraiser and community event for Alpine Little League.

PURPOSE - Net proceeds will be used for four specific purposes:

  • On-going Little League operations – Alpine LL supports 600 kids in the Spring and 200 in the Fall playing baseball.
  • Scholarships for kids to play Alpine LL – Alpine sponsors a Ravenswood team to play Fall Ball.
  • SF Giants Family Night – Alpine provides tickets to Ravenswood players and families to attend our spring and fall Giants outings.
  • Seed funding for new programs.

DATE - The Hit-A-Thon is Sunday, April 30th at La Entrada School. It will coincide with team photo day. There will be barbeque, music and kids activities. AA, AAA and Majors hit at the baseball diamond. T-Ball and Coach Pitch hit on the grass field.

ROLES

  • Players: Players collect donations from family and friends. Players participate in the Hit-A-Thon. Players and teams earn prizes based upon total dollars raised and their Hit-A-Thon results. Players will receive info, tips and forms to solicit donations from family and friends.
  • Coaches: Coaches distribute material to players, encourage players to solicit contributions and get them to participate in the Hit-A-Thon.
  • Family and Friends: Donations to the Hit-A-Thon are tax-deductible. Donations help Alpine Little League fund scholarships and operations that encourage participation in Little League.

DONATIONS - Donations are a fixed amount. They can be made online or via credit or debit card at the event.

FORMAT - Every player hits 3 balls off a tee. The furthest distance is the player’s record hit. Every team has 15 minutes for players to take their swings. A team’s Hit-A-Thon time coincides its schedule photo time.

PRIZES - Prizes will be based on player and team performance. Performance categories will be based upon age, not level of play. Prizes will include private hitting lessons, Amazon gift cards, gift certificates, and athletic wear.

QUESTIONS – Contact Ed Zschau, or 650-218-5866.

Mission Statement

Alpine / West Menlo Little League has served the families of Menlo Park, Woodside, and Portola Valley for more than a half-century. Our mission is to be an outstanding community organization that creates a culture where kids of all abilities love playing the game of baseball. Essential to that culture is a commitment from all involved (players, coaches, parents, board members, officials, and fans) to cherish and respect the special role that youth sports play in the development of our children.

Our goals are:

  • To help players develop baseball skills and a greater understanding of the game,
  • To instill a respect for the traditions of the game and all who are involved,
  • To teach the value of individual responsibility, teamwork, and sportsmanship,
  • To foster an environment of healthy athletic competition.

We honor the true definition of competition by seeking to inspire and enable our kids to achieve excellence in the sport of baseball and in life - to improve each day, to encourage teammates and fellow competitors to do the same, and to enjoy the camaraderie that comes from the pursuit of common goals and the achievement of athletic excellence
